JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Mission

Context

The demarcation of the 2,100 km Cameroon–Nigeria border has affected thousands of households across Adamaoua, North, and Far North regions. Needs assessments revealed major gaps in WASH, health, psychosocial support, and cross-border trade, calling for urgent, coordinated, multi-agency interventions. This assignment will transform the joint assessment into concrete projects at national and cross-border levels, strengthening resilience, governance, and peaceful coexistence.

Key Responsibilities

We seek support of 1 Online Volunteer who, under the supervision of the IOM Chief of Mission in Cameroon and in collaboration with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and the Cameroon–Nigeria Mixed Commission (CNMC), will support the design of cross-border and multi-agency projects. Specifically, the Online Volunteer will be asked to:
• Draft and develop project proposals addressing identified needs (WASH, health, livelihoods, psychosocial support, governance, trade facilitation);
• Ensure alignment of projects with UNSDCF, AU frameworks, Global Compact for Migration, and national policies;
• Formulate national-level project documents in Cameroon (with UNICEF, WHO, FAO, UNDP, etc.) and collaborate with IOM Nigeria for comparable initiatives;
• Design joint Cameroon–Nigeria cross-border projects on WASH, mobility, border health surveillance, and resilience;
• Map donor priorities, prepare concept notes and logframes, and support resource mobilization efforts;
• Provide training and share methodologies on results-based project design with government, UN, and CNMC stakeholders.
Regular communication will take place via email and online meetings. Field missions to Yaoundé or border regions may be considered, depending on project needs and security.

Required Skills and Experience

 Master’s degree in International Development, Project Management, Economics, Migration Studies, or related fields;
 3–5 years’ experience in project development, programme design, or resource mobilization;
 Proven record of successful donor proposals, ideally in fragile/borderland contexts;
 Previous experience with UN, international NGOs, or government counterparts;
 Strong project design and results-based management skills;
 Excellent drafting and presentation skills;
 Ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder and cross-border initiatives.).
