Due to humanitarian needs IOM is currently implementing projects in various thematic areas in support of the government, such as: stabilization of communities through community planning; peace building through conflict management and prevention; disengagement, disassociation, reintegration and reconciliation; humanitarian emergencies for crisis-affected populations, displacement monitoring, emergency shelter/NFIs, etc. crisis-affected populations, displacement monitoring, emergency shelter/NFIs, protection and migration assistance, including the fight against human trafficking and assistance for voluntary return; health promotion and health assistance the fight against trafficking and assistance with voluntary return; health promotion and assistance for migrants, as well as mental health and psychosocial support. According to the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) published in April 2024, around 3.4 million people, or one in six, require emergency assistance as a result of the three humanitarian crises facing the country (Cameroon): 1) the Far North region, 2) the North West and South West regions (NWSW), and 3) the refugee crisis in the East. Added to this are the socio-economic repercussions of a global health crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, which has led to a rise in world food prices, exacerbating poverty and hunger in vulnerable communities. Faced with this situation, IOM Cameroon is striving to diversify its partnerships, with particular emphasis on the private sector.
Task Description
- Visibility and Communications Support: Provide visibility and communications support, including designing promotional materials and managing media coverage
- UN Coordination Mechanism: Participate in the UN coordination mechanism, particularly the Programme Management Team (PMT), to ensure alignment and collaboration with UN initiatives
- Stakeholder Liaison: Support and assist in liaising with relevant authorities, United Nations Country Team (UNCT), other UN organizations, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Coordination and Reporting: Contribute to and support the coordination and writing of project reports to donors in partnership with project management staff.
- Knowledge Management: Assist in the general knowledge management efforts of the Mission, including the regular updating of information management systems, reporting schedules, and general project information
- Documentation and Communication: Write and compile relevant information and documentation to support project development, reporting, and donor engagement. Prepare briefs, summaries, and other necessary documentation to support strategic communication.
- Meeting Facilitation: Organize, attend, and document meetings with donors and partners. Collect and analyze data on donors’ policies, approaches, and funding opportunities to inform strategic decision-making. Maintain proactive follow-up and communication to secure and strengthen partnerships as needed in view of new project opportunities
- Liaison and Fundraising: Support the CO’s liaison and fundraising activities by identifying opportunities and building partnerships with donors and the private sector to enhance the CO’s portfolios and funding potential
- Review and Endorsement: Facilitate the timely review and endorsement of concept notes, proposals, and donor reports on IOM’s relevant software application and in compliance with the IOM Project Handbook.
- Project Development Support: Provide substantive inputs to the CO on Project Development to ensure that projects, inter-agency joint projects, and other funding requests are aligned with institutional strategies, guidance, and practices
- Monitoring and Evaluation: support baseline and endline project assessments as well as monitoring projects from start to end to enhance fundraising efforts.
- Donor Reporting and Compliance: Support donor reporting, compliance with organizational policies, and capacity-building initiatives, contributing to the overall success of programs
Required education level
Master degree or equivalent in general social sciences, Environment, Conflict and Security, Economics and International Development or a related field from an accredited academic institution
Languages
- English, Level: Native language, Required
- French, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable
