Responsibilities
- Providing coordination support to the UN Decade activities, as well as to the current and new Flagships.
- Supporting in the establishment and management of partnerships for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
- Assuring quality of the secretariat functions to the meetings of the Strategy Group and Executive Board of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund.
- Support to and coordination of the UN Decade Advisory Board meetings and activities.
- Supporting the UN Decade partners in implementing the UN Decade Action Plan.Assisting the UN Decade Coordinator (D1) on matters in relation to the Multi-Partner Trust Fund of the UN Decade, bilateral donors as well as other funding sources.
- Liaise internally and externally to support the UN Decade implementation, as well as related UN and UNEP’s processes, in coordination with co-leading agencies and partners.
- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
- Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publica-tions/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
- Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
Education:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Environmental Studies, International Relations, Communication, Political Science, or a related field is required.
Experience:
- At least 3 months of relevant experience related to implementation of environmental related programmes, projects and activities is required.
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in MS Word, excel and PowerPoint various Microsoft office packages are required.
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Accuracy and professional in document production and editing
Languages:
- English, Level: Fluent, Required
- Kiswahili, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable
- Arabic, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable
