SimukaAfrica.org and its 34 Gallery Initiative currently seek 3 highly motivated professionals for our Legacy Fellowship. These roles involve quality assurance, public relations, and administrative tasks that are essential to maintaining high standards in our organization as it enters its 20th year of operation.

Context

Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) covers good health and well-being goals. This overall purpose is to ensure healthy living for the global population, encourage preventative care and promote well-being at all ages. SDG 3 goals address all major health priorities, including mental, reproductive, maternal and child health; communicable, non-communicable and environmental disease; universal health coverage; and access for all to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines and vaccines. Our efforts focus on the reduction of the global suicide rate, elimination of mental health stigmas, and the continuation of the mental health dialogue beyond May’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) focuses on education and aims to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” Our campaign seeks to emphasize reading, digital literacy, arts education and utilizing the arts for self-care in areas where mental health services are unavailable. By fusing the arts with this process, we have seen a dramatic increase in interest and sincerity among participants.

SDG 7, or the Affordable and Clean Energy goal, aims to “ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all” by 2030. Access to solar power energy is crucial for improving access to our digital literacy program, free wi-fi and computer access at The Norton Library. Although we have a computer lab, rolling blackouts often disable the technology for the students.
