JOB DESCRIPTION
Organization Mission
Enable continuous access to education for children, youth, and teachers around the world and drive improved learning outcomes through high-quality, portable education to support their entry into other education or opportunity pathways, including formal education
Context
Across the globe, many teachers are motivated to adopt digital tools in their classrooms, but sometimes lack access to structured professional development that meets their needs in terms of language, local context, and teaching realities.
To address this, UNICEF is organizing and curating digital learning resources aligned with a structured framework that reflects the evolving roles and responsibilities of teachers, and other education practitioners involved in digital learning.
These resources aim to help teachers grow their digital skills in practical ways – from using technology in the classroom, creating or adapting learning materials, and supporting inclusive and safe digital learning environments, to using data to guide instruction, and collaborating with peers. The content supports different experience levels, whether teachers are just getting started or already using digital tools regularly.
To accelerate this effort, UNICEF is engaging Online Volunteers to help source, analyze, and organize high-quality content that supports education practitioners at different stages of their digital learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for 2 detail-oriented Online Volunteers to support UNICEF’s teacher development efforts in sub-Saharan Africa by identifying and organizing high-quality, open-access professional development resources:
– Identify high-quality, adaptable open educational resources (such as videos, guides, toolkits, courses, or interactive modules) that support teachers in building digital competencies across specific domains and levels
– Align selected resources with structured criteria including relevance to educator roles, and suitability for low-resource contexts in the West and Central Africa and Eastern and Southern Africa regions.
Expected results:
– A curated list of resources, documented using UNICEF-provided templates. Volunteers will receive a clear set of priority competencies to guide their search and selection of relevant materials.
– Clear summaries and metadata for each resource (format, role, theme)
Required Skills and Experience
Strong research skills, and strong attention to detail
Experience in education, teaching, or digital learning
Ability to follow structured guidance and work independently
