The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the Secretariat Department responsible for strengthening international human rights mechanisms; enhancing equality and countering discrimination; combating impunity and strengthening accountability and the rule of law; integrating human rights in development and in the economic sphere; widening the democratic space; and early warning and protection of human rights in situations of conflict, violence and insecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, management, and enhancement of data management systems, including databases and spreadsheets, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection, cleaning, and verification processes.
  • Develop briefs, reports and visual factsheets for external communication purposes;
  • Create and update information products, such as reports, charts, and infographics, transforming data into compelling visual narratives to effectively communicate key messages.
  • Support assessment and needs analysis activities;
  • Ensure the integration of gender equality, children’s rights, disability rights, and minority rights perspectives and indicators across all produced materials.
  • Draft and review a variety of reports, etc., in compliance with established standards;
  • Represent UN human rights at working level inter-agency and working level coordination meetings;
  • Ensure adherence to data protection policies and standards in all activities.
  • Provide training as required;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

Master degree or equivalent in Information management, international relations or social sciences, statistics, or related fields.

Work Experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of information management tools and services to produce information and analytical products is required.
  • Experience in database management and other tools for data production and visualization is required.
  • Experience working in the Latin American Region and/or knowledge of human rights in the region is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of content on relevant web platforms including interactive dashboards is an advantage.
  • Experience working in the UN or in an international organization is an advantage.
  • Commitment to volunteerism and previous experience as a volunteer or with human rights volunteer organizations is an advantage.
  • Excellent drafting, formulation, and reporting skills.

  • English, Level: Fluent, Required.
  • Spanish, Level: Fluent, Required.
